Condensate is the unavoidable result of air compression. It is a chemically aggressive fluid, mainly composed of water, but also contains oil and dirt particles; if your compressor uses oil in the compression chamber, oil pollution is inevitable of. Lubricant will mix with condensed water to form oily water, which must be properly handled to avoid violating environmental regulations. Only one liter of waste oil can pollute up to one million liters of fresh water.

This is why environmental regulations strictly prohibit the discharge of oily wastes and chemicals, including condensate discharged from compressed air systems. Therefore, compressed air condensate must be treated in accordance with water resources regulations to reach the required safety level before it can be treated in the wastewater system.

Therefore, the compressor condensate must be collected and processed through a special process, or processed before it is disposed of in the environment. An oil/water separator can be used here to remove oil from the condensate. Since the condensate is about 95% water and 5% oil, a water/oil separator was developed to reduce or eliminate the amount of oil in the condensate.
